I’m a guy who likes to think about public speaking.

Hello! Thanks for stopping by. I’m a speaker, writer, and entrepreneur. I started out my career as a product development engineer, earning bachelor’s and master’s degrees. I even became a registered professional engineer along the way. But I’ve always fancied myself a writer. I’ve been published in the San Diego Business Journal, Mechanical Engineering magazine, Tech Directions magazine, and PsychCentral.

I came to public speaking out of necessity. After one too many failed presentations in front of management, I knew I had to work on my public speaking skills. My job depended on it! I now have my own ideas on what makes an effective speaker, specifically for STEM professionals like myself. I have presented at SCORE San Diego, the Society for Biomaterials, and the Biomedical Engineering Society, among others. I also host a podcast that focuses on public speaking and write a weekly blog on public speaking topics.

Who is Neil Thompson?

I am a guy just trying to figure stuff out.
