I’m not an expert. I’m just a guy who likes to think about stuff.
A couple of weeks ago, a piece I wrote for the San Diego Business Journal was published, “4 reasons to have a blog.” I started blogging in February and have committed myself to writing a post every week. If I don’t put it on my calendar, I don’t do it. I highly recommend scheduling the things that you want to get done. When they’re in writing, they feel more concrete. If you blog consistently, it becomes a habit and you feel compelled to keep doing it.
And now, here are the reasons to blog.
Help potential customers find you online
The more pages you have on your website, the better. Not only can the blog serve as a resource, it’s also another page for search engines to find. A blog will help your website traffic gradually increase.
Show you as an expert
To promote your business, don’t be shy in showing off all your industry knowledge. People will view you as an authority and be more likely to support your business. People want to buy from those who know what they’re talking about.
Now that people are reading the blog and see how well you know your stuff, they’re more likely to want to form a relationship. Email opt-ins, requests for more information, and general engagement all go up with a blog.
Provide value to potential customers
With the advent of social media, people are being sold to all the time. They get tired of it. A blog allows you to give away information without putting on the hard sell. People appreciate the authenticity.
